What Do You Do When The Winds Blow?
I have felt like a small boat on a big ocean. Captain of a leaky vessel without oars or rudder, tossed on an unfriendly sea and no land in sight. Blown this way and that by the winds of confusion and despair.
After many years of studying truth teachings backwards and forwards I felt I knew and understood God, and still I felt adrift on that big ocean. I'd taken all the classes. I'd heard all the speakers, listened to all the tapes and gone on all the retreats. I felt ever more centered, more peaceful, more clear, yet the fulfillment I was seeking had not come. I couldn't figure it out. I decided to stop seeking and instead I offered total and complete surrender. In essence, I decided to stop thinking ABOUT God and decide to BECOME the living embodiment of the Divine. With every particle of my being I chose Oneness with God over every other thing I thought I wanted.
I moved into a space of complete forgiveness for everyone and everything. I made a commitment to give up my complaints and judgments and to align my thoughts with the Divine. Essentially, I became devoted to the truth and didn't want to entertain any other thoughts. I realized I could have preferences, but I didn't need my opinions. I surrendered attachments to mental habits that had created a sense of separation. I chose to be fully partnered with the Presence of God and that became my ruder, a billion horse-power engine. I let God's Love power my boat. No matter how big the waves, I stayed true to my course.
These days, the wind still blows, storms still come when I'm attached to something or have been deluded into thinking I'm right. I recognize it is part of life. Without challenges I would be dead in the water and that would be an even greater challenge. I thank God for everything and I mean it.
